Microsoft
.NET Framework 3.5
Introduction :
Welcome to the Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5. The
.NET Framework is a technology that supports building and running the next
generation of applications and Web services. The .NET Framework consists of the
common language runtime (CLR) and the .NET Framework class library, which
includes ADO.NET, ASP.NET, Windows Forms, and Windows Presentation Foundation
(WPF). The .NET Framework provides a managed execution environment, simplified
development and deployment, and integration with a wide variety of programming
languages.
Features
You can download the .NET Framework 3.5 from the Microsoft
Download Center. (To use the .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 8, you must enable
it on your computer. For instructions, see Installing the .NET Framework 3.5 on
Windows 8.). For a brief introduction to the architecture of the .NET
Framework, see .NET Framework Conceptual Overview. For a discussion of .NET
Framework version 3.5 and its relationship to previous versions of the .NET
Framework, see .NET Framework 3.5 Architecture. The documentation for the .NET
Framework includes an extensive class library reference, conceptual overviews,
step-by-step procedures, and information about samples, compilers, and
command-line tools. To locate the information that interests you, see the
following list of main topic areas. The .NET Framework is a development platform for building
apps for web, Windows, Windows Phone, Windows Server, and Microsoft Azure. It
consists of the common language runtime (CLR) and the .NET Framework class
library, which includes a broad range of functionality and support for many
industry standards. The .NET Framework provides many services, including memory
management, type and memory safety, security, networking, and application deployment.
It provides easy-to-use data structures and APIs that abstract the lower-level
Windows operating system. You can use a variety of programming languages with
the .NET Framework, including C#, F#, and Visual Basic. For a general introduction to the .NET Framework for both
users and developers, see Getting Started. For an introduction to the
architecture and key features of the .NET Framework, see the overview. The .NET Framework can be used with Docker and with Windows
Containers. See Deploying .NET Framework applications with Docker to learn how
to run your applications in Docker containers.
.NET Framework 3.5 builds incrementally on the new features
added in .NET Framework 3.0. For example, feature sets in Windows Workflow
Foundation (WF), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Windows Presentation
Foundation (WPF) and Windows CardSpace. In addition, .NET Framework 3.5
contains a number of new features in several technology areas which have been
added as new assemblies to avoid breaking changes. They include the following:
- Deep integration of Language Integrated Query (LINQ) and data awareness. This new feature will let you write code written in LINQ-enabled languages to filter, enumerate, and create projections of several types of SQL data, collections, XML, and DataSets by using the same syntax.
- ASP.NET AJAX lets you create more efficient, more interactive, and highly-personalized Web experiences that work across all the most popular browsers.
- New Web protocol support for building WCF services including AJAX, JSON, REST, POX, RSS, ATOM, and several new WS-* standards.
- Full tooling support in Visual Studio 2008 for WF, WCF, and WPF, including the new workflow-enabled services technology.
- New classes in .NET Framework 3.5 base class library (BCL) that address many common customer requests.
Important :
- If you have installed earlier pre-release versions of .NET Framework 3.5, then you must uninstall them prior to running this installation by using Add or Remove Programs.
- Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 contains many new features building incrementally upon .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0, and includes .NET Framework 2.0 service pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.0 service pack 1.
Install Instruction :
- Important: Make sure you have the latest service pack and critical updates for the version of Windows on the computer. To look for recent updates, visit Windows Update. In addition, make sure you have Windows Installer 3.1 installed before you install this service pack.
- Click the Download button on this page to start the download.
- To save the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save.
- To cancel the installation, click Cancel.
The Microsoft .NET Framework 3 is the new managed code
programming model for Windows®. It combines the power of the .NET Framework
version 2.0 with new technologies for building applications that have visually
compelling user experiences, seamless communication across technology
boundaries, and the ability to support a wide range of business processes.
These new technologies are Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows
Communication Foundation, Windows Workflow Foundation, and Windows CardSpace.
The .NET Framework 3 is included as part of the Windows Vista operating system;
you can install it or uninstall it using Windows Features Control Panel. This
redistributable package is for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. The latest
version (3.5) contains many new features building incrementally upon .NET
Framework 2.0 and 3.0, and includes .NET Framework 2.0 service pack 1 and .NET
Framework 3.0 service pack 1.
